SAKSA is yet again organising the State wave titles. Like most years, the event will happen across a 4 week window starting on the 20th June, with the competition kicking off on the first weekend that both the wind and swell line up to run the event. Location is to be advised 2 days before the event, but will be either on the mid coast or Middleton. Signup is ONLINE only, and you must be signed up by 8pm on theThursday before the event. SAKSA ROBE EASTER CLASSIC

The SAKSA Robe Easter Classic is fast approaching… that’s right, it’s actually happening!

SAKSA is stoked to present the annual kitesurfing comp at Long Beach, Robe. A one day event happening from the 3rd to the 5th of April, weather depending.

The comp is an “expression session” style event and will be judged by a secret panel of highly skilled, legendary judges… the likes of whom, you’ll never know.

A notice board will be left outside Steve’s Place surf shop in Robe which will be updated daily between 9 and 10am with details of the coming days activities. As many of you know, the weather can be fickle in Robe this time of year, so by having this notice board in a communal place, where you can check the status of the comp, we hope to allow everyone to take it easy when there’s no wind, maybe head out for a leisurely 4×4, and when the wind is on, we’ll call it with as much notice as possible. All the usual social media outlets, i.e. the SAKSA Facebook page, will be updated with details as they happen. So if you don’t have a Facebook account, you’ve now been warned, the noticeboard outside Steve’s Place surf shop in the main street of Robe is your “social media” channel for the Easter weekend.

Entry is $25 and with Open Men, Open Women, Amateurs and Juniors divisions on the card, everyone’s in with a chance, just the way we like it at SAKSA! There’s even a couple of special awards up for grabs that we’ll unveil at the presentations. While the event has been scaled back this year your $25 gets you a crack at one of the hand craft and sought after event trophies and a BBQ lunch and a few cold softies on the day of the comp. Should the wind look doubtful SAKSA will still run a BBQ at some stage throughout the weekend just so everyone gets together for a chat and a good feed.

With some prize money and a few vouchers up for grabs courtesy of our event sponsors: Onboard, Cabrinha/JP/Neil Pryde, Holidays of Australia and FSR Why not get on down and have some fun.

There will be no Friday Night Party this year however the Robe Footy Club have advised they will be opening their doors throughout the day, with match’s starting from 10am it is a fully licensed and catered event. Details are limited at present however we thought this would make for a good opportunity to get together for a meal and a few frothies while also supporting the local community. Further details to follow.

The Robe Hotel have this year have come to the party and are hosting out presentation night on Sunday the 5th April. Combined with the Windsurfing Association the presentation night should be a fun night with food and drinks also available through the hotel.

SIGN UP – This bit is really important guys, there is absolutely NO cash signup. All signups MUST BE DONE ONLINE BEFORE THE EVENT by following the link to Kiteboarding Australia Ltd.’s sign up page. SAKSA STATE WAVE TITLES 2014

SAKSA STATE WAVE TITLES 2014

Oh, winter is upon us!
The swell is up, the banks are working down South and the reefs on the mid have been giving it their all.
That winter chill we all love (?) brings frontal systems that will power us into the waves like we’ve all dreamed about through summer.
So as always, June and July will again play host to the most renowned wave competition in the country, as SAKSA holds its annual State Wave Titles. We’re expecting a great turn out, from those looking to just try their hand, to those going for the top step on the podium. Last year was hotly contested and there are a few crew at the top who are out to correct what they so closely missed out on.
As always, with the Winter weather patterns, we are setting a 4 week window aside in which to run the event. We will therefore run on the first weekend with adequate wind and swell.
We’ve checked the tides and we’ve checked the breaks and have decided that again, in 2014, we’re going to hold the event either at Seaford or Middleton, depending on conditions. As we saw in the last two years straight, the Rose Street carpark has turned on the goods for us so it’s now an official fixture.
The details are as follows.
• When: July 5/6, July 12/13, July 19/20 or July 26/27
• Where: Seaford or Middleton
• Cost: $40 (free T-Shirt) or $60 (free Hoodie)
• What you get: Entry into the comp, free Tee or Hoodie (depending on what you pay), BBQ & Soft Drinks.
• What you need: You must be a current SAKSA (AKSA) Member to enter.
NOTE: Sign-up in ONLINE ONLY. No cash. Be a bunch of legends and sign up at home before the day! It makes everyone’s job so much easier.
Once again, we’ll be running the following categories:
• Juniors
• Amateurs
• Open Men
• Open Women
• Masters
• Legends
So whether you’re just comfy in the waves and want to give it a crack, or you’re going for the title, get out there and support the association that supports South Australian Kitesurfers, SAKSA! See you out there and good luck!
Frequent updates will be posted on Seabreeze forum and SAKSA Facebook. Stay tuned there and on the SAKSA Website for all upcoming details.

Well, let’s try this again, shall we?

It’s on again… again… this weekend at the Grange Sailing Club, the SAKSA Freestyle Kiteboarding State Titles, proudly brought to you by The City of Charles Sturt!

The stage is set for our finest kiteboarders to battle it out for the biggest prize in our SA, the Freestyle Kiteboarding State Title!

After a call last weekend to postpone, we’re expecting good conditions over at least part of this upcoming weekend, the 8th and 9th of February, to run the comp and crown some winners!

This year, with the help of our sponsors, there’s over $8,000 worth of prizes up for grabs, which means that EVERY entrant WILL take something home with them. The Early Bird prize of a Sony Action Cam will be decided based on last week’s Early Bird noms but there’s still so much more on offer.

Every entry gets another unique merch pack including SA’s awesome custom design T-shirts and a wicked SAKSA Trucker’s Cap!

If you haven’t signed up yet, visit www.saksa.com.au and follow the prompts through to get registered! And don’t forget to tick the option to show your name on the guest list for our benefit!

As always, you don’t have to be going for the title to enter. In fact, Liquid Force and BoardingHQ have come to the party with a brand new Liquid Force kiteboard that will be offered up as an encouragement award for the rider who’s seen to be not necessarily the best rider but giving it their all and full of stoke throughout the weekend!

Again the major categories include:

• Juniors – Under 18
• Amateurs – No Shop riders, no unhooked tricks
• Open Men
• Open Women
• Masters – over 35’s
• Legends – over 45’s and;
• The GoBig Award
• The KiteHard Award

Our home, the Grange Sailing Club will be open all weekend and is a great place to get out of the sun and watch all the action, while enjoying a beverage or two. So tell all your family and friends to come on down and support the club that supports South Australian Kitesurfing! Family BBQ passes will also be available for $5 per day, per head for your convenience.

Finally, this event would be impossible without the incredible support of these fantastic sponsors – City of Charles Sturt, Grange Sailing Club, BoardingHQ, SundaySurf Henley Beach, OnBoard, Xtreme Kites & Paddle, FSR Industries, ProAV Solutions, BSS Light Audio Visual, WSL Wine Storage & Logistics, WindSUP, Red Baron, Liquid Force, Blade, Cabrinha, North, Slingshot, Nobile, Ozone, Airush, Best and Flying Objects.
